We function as a student-run organization, thus our program depends on the five-member student board with the support of the CSU Campus Recreation Office, our faculty advisor, Peter Jacobs, and our coaching staff. The student officers manage finances, travel, media, and scheduling. In addition to our regular season, we volunteer within the Fort Collins and greater community two-three times per season, and partake in regular fundraising events throughout the year. We have tryouts the first week of school in August and begin our practices the following week. The season typically consists of 20-25 games. Our season typically runs till mid March. We travel out of state 2-3 times per season to places like Arizona, Utah, and Michigan. Our roster is typically around 25 members and can be as large as 30 members. Our team placed 3rd in our regional tournament and had a record of 15-8-0 for the 2022-2023 season. We hope to continue to build off of this momentum moving into the next season. In all, the team is the tightest knit group of women out there. The program provides so much more beyond hockey. Being a student-athlete offers not only community and companionship, but also teaches responsibility, time management, communication skills, and above all leadership. The women’s hockey team provides these life-long attributes all while fostering a competitive and high quality collegiate athletic opportunity.
