The CSU Water Polo team competes in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) every fall. There are generally 4 tournaments each season. Other teams in our division include University of Colorado, University of Denver, Colorado School of Mines, University of Wyoming, University of Utah, Utah State University, University of Northern Arizona, and the University of New Mexico.
Our Coach, Tucker Mattern, is dedicated to see the team succeed and creates a constructive learning environment while maintaining a competitive edge. Travel team members will travel to CWPA tournaments throughout the fall. Practice squad members are welcomed at all practices and will have the opportunity to partake in scrimmages and spring tournaments with other teams in the area.
In our fifth year as an official club at CSU, we are looking to continue to build a team that is close-knit and both physically and mentally strong. With continued growth we can achieve our goal of brining the culture of water polo back to CSU, and build a dynasty the competes for championships every year.
We welcome any and all levels of experience to practice with the team. Tryouts on the first day will determine the players that will travel to tournaments in the fall. Team members have varying experience levels, from those who have never played before, to those who have competed internationally. Coaches and experienced team members are always willing to help less experienced players enhance their skills, and adopt a love for the game.”
