The CSU club tennis team is a coed group of former high school players that are looking to maintain and further their skills through regular practice and friendly competition. There is a tryout process the second and third weeks of the fall semester and then the remaining players are split up into three teams (A, B and C). For anyone who does not make one of the three teams or cannot meet the time commitment, there is a practice squad available to anyone. It is the team’s goal to enhance each student’s overall experience at CSU by providing an opportunity to grow as a player as well as make connections with fellow students.
In the fall, the teams travels and competes against CU Boulder, University of Denver, University of Northern Colorado, and University of Wyoming. The top players then travel for the USTA Fall Invitational held in Hilton Head, SC. In the spring, the team has their sectionals tournament in Salt Lake City, UT and all teams in the section compete for a bid to nationals. The CSU team has competed in the last three national championships, with the most recent being at the brand new USTA national campus in Orlando, FL. The USTA provides teams across the country with amazing opportunities to continue progressing as students and players.
